Practical teaching and learning!
ACTIVITIES FOR PRACTICAL TEACHING
1)
Problem solving:
in this section, we can do a number of activities. At first, we can make a
group of the students’ .Then we can hand out the problem to every group. They
will try to solve it by discussing among themselves. The problem will be in
following
A)
If your close friend who has habit of stealing
from other’s bag. What would you do for him to remove his habit.
B)
Your one of the relatives is lost in a metro
city and does not know how to come out. What suggestions or solutions would you
like to give him?
Above problems are
supplied to the students. Then they will discuss it together. They will come
forward the class and present their solution. Here they can use their practical
knowledge.
*Advantage: i) They develop
the habit of practical and reasoning thinking.
ii) They have a number of solutions
at finger tip.
iii) They develop to manage the problem and its
solution properly.
iv) They
develop to handle the situation in a smart way.
v) This
activity enables them to go beyond the theoretical
vi) This activity
makes them to deal with others in a practical way.
2)Stress handling: in this section too, we can bring a number of activities
to the class. Through that they can relieve their stress and become a man of
practical. Let us see one activity.
A)
At first, the teacher will give a blank page
with some words written in its center to the students. Then they will have ten
minutes to observe that page and describe it properly. As soon as they complete
their description, they all will come with various descriptions. It is also
taken into account that they will write
there what they have on their mind. Slowly and gradually they will enroll with the
activity. Then they will release their stress and become active.
B)
First of all they will stand up and arms up,
then take deep breathe in. And sigh out. AHHHHHHH like that one or more time we
can do it.
In
above activity the students will have free mind at once.
Advantage :i) The
activity prepares the students to live freely and frankly.
ii) It makes them to deal with any situation in a logical way.
iii) it changes their mind set and aspires them to work hopefully.
3)Effective communication: In order to bring an effective
communication we can plan out practical activities.
A)
At first, we need to make a circle of the
students. In which nine to ten students are to stand. Then the teacher will
have to speak the first student very slowly in his ear about something. That may
be four to five sentences and that may be difficult one. The first student will
pass it to the second in his ear. Then the second one will pass it to the third
one. And it will go on to the last one. When it comes to the last student, at
that time there will be huge different between what is said to the first and
what the last student to speak. In the last they will realise that they would
not listen with attention, but just hear. They will be convinced about the importance
of effective communication.
B)
The students will work in groups of six and conduct
a small survey. That survey will be on any topic like environment, quality food,
health and career etc. They will discuss their findings after the survey to be
done. They will learn how to communicate with others effectively. In this way
they will increase their competency in the communication.
Advantage: I ) This prepares them
to speak clearly and objectively
ii) This enables
them listen to others too.
iii)This makes
them to expand their thinking level.
