Communication means oneness and togetherness
The word ‘communication’
comes from the word ‘commune’. It means to be oneness or togetherness. In detail,
the person speaks with others. If he is heard with oneness or togetherness is called
real communication. Whenever we either listen or communicate, at that time, we
both people connect with each other in the communication. We show oneness, togetherness,
and attachment. Otherwise it is a just mechanical communication if there is no
sign of oneness and togetherness in it. The person speaks without any authenticity
of oneness or togetherness and other just hears the word, not oneness with him.
That is only mechanical way of communication. That’s why most of the
relationships don’t live longer and break up instantly due to lack of oneness
and togetherness in the communication.
In day to day life we
come across such examples and never realise the importance and value of authentic
communication. Recently I had such experience of it. It happened that I was
attending the teacher’s meeting conducted by the principal. At a time she
raised authentic issue of speaking English in the school premises. She found
that most of the teachers don’t speak English with the students. Further she added
that those who finished schooling and going to college they share the story of
their presentation in which they have to communicate in English. Today they
realise the importance of communication in English. Even they remember her word
all the time whenever they are told to give the presentation in English. At same
time she was speaking from the bottom of heart. I realised that there was pain,
regret, loss, and isolation in her voice. Everybody seemed to be oneness and
togetherness with her while she was interacting with us. That was real
communication.
In addition of that, we
need to know that we have to listen others with intention of understanding, not
intention of answering. Definitively the authenticity in communication can save
our life from breaking down. Isn’t it?
