Struggle is a necessary part of overcoming life's
difficulties.
Last week, Surat Municipal Corporation started digging
out the society road in order to build a new one. So, everyone moved their
vehicles as well as their cars to some other place. Sometime later, the JCB
machine was on the road and began to function over there. By that time,
everyone had noticed it, but a society dog near my home was still sleeping on
the road. He didn’t get the attention and noise of it. As a result, the driver
of the JCB didn’t notice the dog and got down the dumper, means backside of the
JCB machine, on it unconsciously. Consequently, it started barking painfully
and continuously.
Everyone rushed at his side and saw him lying on the ground. Someone
from the crowd tried to drive him to the other side, but he was unable to move.
Then someone lifted him and placed him at a safe side of the road. It was
realised that he had physical difficulties due to the JCB machine. Therefore,
he didn’t move and was lying over there.
Afterwards, everyone felt pity toward him. But my
family started to care for him by offering biscuits and milk in the morning and
evening. Every one of the society was thinking something differently, either
hand him over to husbandry or leave him at a faraway place. They thought of him
as a burden to society. Irrespective of that tete-a-tete in society, my family
was in a caring mood towards him all the time.
However, one fine morning few members of society took
him and left him at the garbage bin where people was supposed to throw the
garbage and the leftovers. They thought that he would be taken by the
municipality. Perhaps he would be thrown at some unknown place. People of the
society felt relieved of his filthy urine and dirt done by him. They were happy
inside. But God had some other plan for him. On the other hand, my family
became worried about his disappearance. In between we prayed about him for his
safety. But he returned to society slowly and gradually by walking. He was
struggling to walk, but he came to my home. We all became happy on seeing him.
Immediately, he was given a bowl of milk. At that time, somebody shared the
dog’s story as he had been struggling to stand since the morning. It happened
after he was left by a few members of society. By evening, he started walking
slowly and properly.
We family were, in fact, celebrating his return and
overcoming physical difficulties. I personally observed him and became glad by
learning that struggle is a must for overcoming difficulties in life. That
lesson was taught by the dog, the animal.
