Sharing the father's expectation

On 10.07.2018 , Tuesday I discovered a new activity for 12th science and applied it in the class. It was related about father’s expectation and feeling. As I entered the class and wrote an activity on the blackboard. All became excited as well as delighted. They asked me about what type of it was. Then they started tete a tete among themselves on it. It was based on the lesson ‘letter from Father’. I put  two instructions after making a group of four students. These instructions were:
1)      Imagine what does your father expect from you. Discuss this with your group. As you do at your home. Take 15 minutes  for this discussion.
2)      Then one or two members of the group will present their feeling and expectation in front of the class.
At first , some of them resisted me how they could know about father’s expectation. I shared a story of a mother and her son. The son of that mother realised after her death that her mother donated her eye to him. She had been very kind to him. He came to know through the letter. up to that time he hated her. So he became very emotional and had no mother listen to his feeling.
As soon as I told that story. Everybody was ready to put self into father’s shoes. Still they struggled to visualise what the father’s expectation and feeling were. By and by they began noting down in the pages. Simultaneously I was taking round and clearing the doubts. Even I shot my objectives clearly to them. There were seven group made by me and they were in deep thought. That prepared them to think beyond the classroom as well as the textbook. Slowly they had a picture of what the father’s expectation
Afterwards the time was over, I inspired them to finish second stage of the activity . Firstly Jeel and his group were ready to share what they discussed. It was somewhat difficult for him, but he started to tell about his father’s expectation. He became emotional while telling it. He pointed out , “ The father expects from him to support at an old age” further he mentioned, “ His father expects his child will get success.” In the end , Ridhhi  , who was in the group , also shared her feeling.
Then the second group turned up and started by Yash Rudani exclaimed ,” The father never thinks of child’s wrong.” He spoke lots about his expectation. He was backed up by Dhiren who exposed his feeling on the father. The group carried their sharing in excellent way. As they ended their turn. At that time , Kelvin and Anuj group appeared on the stage. Began with Kelvin who first time spoke. It was from his heart. He said ,” The father expects good respect.” Anuj also winded up by saying ,” The father always tells to the child , do study.” That group was on a verge of sharing feeling. They had a surge of it.
As soon as the group went to their place happily, Darsheel and his group took charge of the activity. In his group , he expressed ,” The father expects to be cared by the child at the old age.” At a time Parth also gave his opinion , “ His parents expects that they always try to safe the child.” It meant that safety of the child was important to them. After that Jemi and his group slowly began their feeling. In that Jemi exclaimed, “ His father likes his friends and choice.” Darshan and Princey also shared their own feeling. By that time Darshan came forward and read out his letter loudly. Before the activity ended .Ridham also insisted about her father’s expectation, “ The father does not want his child to suffer.” All of the students were emotional while sharing their feeling. They tried to show their true feeling.
Being a reflective teacher, here I want to express my opinion. What they got is beyond the classroom learning and bookish knowledge. That day they appeared to have grown up. It also became active listening activity. They paid attention to one another attentively. They understood one another very well. They came to the age of their father and promised that they would not break the dream and expectation of the father. They decided to fulfil whatever the father expects. Ultimately they became so attached with the parents that they could not forget their expectation
