Narayan Brahman

                                                 Narayan Brahman
Once upon a time, there lived a Brahmin in a small village. He was called as Narayan. He by profession was a ritual performer for the surrounding villages. Every day he visited the village for these ritual and religious programmes. By nature, he was simple and kind. He had a happy family. There were his wife and a son, he called his son lovingly Narayan too. He always said the people that he called his son Narayan again and again in the sake of remembering God.
Most of the time, the people asked for his advice. One day he was supposed to visit the neighbouring village for a religious programme. So he left for it and was going through the forest. He was familiar with the road to the village. Therefore he was not in a hurry to reach there. While walking through a dense forest, he heard some sound of two people talking. He just looked around and saw them. They were a beautiful woman and a man. As soon as he looked at the woman, he was automatically fascinated towards her beauty. But he didn’t stop there and talk with them. Within a short time, he reached the programme. Consequently, again and again, his mind brought the face of the lady. He started to dream about her.
As soon as he finished it, he was hoping to meet and talk to her. But it didn’t happen on that day. By a chance, he came across her at another place and had word with her. Since that time, they became good friends and met regularly. With time, he slowly was not attending these religious functions to meet her. He liked to talk with her in a secluded place. In result, the people started avoiding him. Slowly he became argumentative with his wife. His wife and son were surprised over his change. They thought that it was something disturbing to him. So he behaved like that.
However, he didn’t change at all and married to that woman. Then he left his family and the profession too. He started drinking wine a lot. He was on the route of becoming himself bad. He completely left his religion as Brahmin and ritual activities.
All the time he lost in the world of that beautiful woman. Over time, his first family also accepted his life and drove him away. Then he was living with his beautiful woman.
No one respected or called him as a religious. But one day he was seriously ill and admitted at the hospital. At that time, the messenger of death got a call to bring his life. So he was coming down on the earth. Narayan had an inner desire to see his loving son. So he was calling ‘Narayan, Narayan’ loudly. Simultaneously, Lord Vishnu heard his voice. He immediately sent his messenger on the earth to see him.
At that time, the messenger of the death was about to take his life but the messenger of Lord stopped him. They both argued. The messenger of Lord said that he was there to take care of his life as per the instruction of Lord Vishnu. On the other hand, the death messenger said that he also got a message from the Lord to bring his life.
Later on, they took it at heaven and put before Lord Brahma. He politely said that the person who remembered Lord at time of difficult. So it was Lord’s moral responsibility to save his life. Therefore the death messenger went away. The Brahman Narayan was spared. After that, he became a good human being. He left a bad path and again began his profession. He apologised his family and son.
Since that time, the people started keeping ritual or any religious programme during their last days, whereas they could be saved by Lord.
