The five days induction programme for the teachers at Sri Sathya Vidyaniketan.


Date 07/11/2019                                                                                          Day: Thursday
On the first day, all teachers gathered to attend the induction programme at Sri Sathya Sai Vidyaniketan, Navasari. All of them gathered at 8 clocks at the main hall. Then they had prayer and small assembly. They had tea and breakfast immediately.  At 8.35 they assembled at the hall and vice Principal Mrs. Binita Mahopatra who led the session on CBSE and its new policy by showing the handbooks. Further she herself introduced experiential learning. She said that there was no experiential learning for 1 to 5 classes. Moving ahead, she explained what it was. It was child centred and student control.  While explaining it she shared a story of the boy who knew the drawing good. But as soon as he changed the school, he started facing the problems of learning.
                        She neatly justified the future of it. It accelerated the learning. It was safe learning environment and bridges the gap between theory and practice. It brought the engagement level, effective for retention, and enables the personalized learning. By that time she showed the policy and framework by the example of Kolbrenders and its 4 stages. These were in following:
1)     Concrete experience
2)     Reflective observation
3)     Abstract conceptualization
4)     Active experimentation
                                She further explained these stages beautifully by provision of the life examples. Later on she familiarized us with the benefits of it. These were competencies, self-motivation, more reflective, and long lasting. And also the strategies were given by her. These were role play, field trip, films –documents, video projects, guest speakers, portfolios, art based, group learning, and peer tutoring. The basic questions were given for experiential learning. They were such as –
1)     Did you notice that?
2)     Why did that happen?     
3)     Have you seen that happened in the life?
4)     Why does that happen?
5)     How can you use that in your daily life?
                              Further she provided the essential components for planning a lesson. She told that the following points would be kept in mind while preparing it
-        Choose realistic goals
-        Pick up exciting topics
-        Know needs and talents
-        Use approaches and methods
-        Fair assessment
-        Evaluation
                 Later on the lesson plan was shown on the projector and better way she convinced the teachers. As soon as she finished her session, all of them had lunch and started preparing the lesson plan and had to submit it to Mr. Kishor Patel. By 3 o clock the teachers submitted it and had plan of the following day.
                    First day was well spent and learnt. It was full of learning and interactive. It was fruitful for all of them.

Date 08/11/2019                                                                                             Day: Friday
The second day was begun with prayer and assembly by the teachers. Immediately they had tea and breakfast. The morning session was handled by Miss Ankita Pandey. She introduced ‘The role of Eco-club in the school’. She began her talk by bombarding lots of questions. She said that it was Nature friendly. She made the session interactive and question based. Further she explained Eco-club at school and objectives of it. These objectives were to develop the awareness, skills, attitude, ethics and much more. Moving ahead in her presentation, she shared the outcomes of it with the teachers.
                              Then she illustrated the policy of CBSE on Eco-club and how it to set up. She said that they had to enroll members, teachers, students, and do lots of activities. Slowly and gradually she raised the questions to them over what can school do?
                                   In the end, she pointed out some examples of the school area and Hindi week celebration over Water conservation. She succeeded in convincing the teachers about the Eco-club and its objectives.
                            Then the teachers had small break for the tea. As soon as they got back at the hall, Mr. Amruta dada held the discussion over the role of the teachers and the school. He is actually the administrator of the school. So he began with three Omkars and he focused upon the residential school as well as its objectives. He said that human values and teacher-parent rapport were immensely crucial in bringing the results. He further shared his views that the teachers had to play multiples role. After that he told the teachers about the hostel life. There were three types of people and their speech, behaviour, and patience to be important. He supplied lots of suggestions to the teachers for self –development. At same time he reminded the rules and norms of the institution. It was related to dress code, leaves, disciplines, and result. At last he requested the teachers to find out where they stand. The session was finished with the Om Shanti. All of them went for the dinner.
                             At 1.30 they gathered at the hall and started the lesson planning. At 3.30 they planned out of the following day.

Date: 09/11/2019                                                                                                                  Day- Saturday
          The session was begun with prayer and the teachers’ assembly. Then they had tea and breakfast. The topic for the session was ‘Integrating Art and Craft in Curriculum’. Mr. Kishor Patel handled the presentation and threw some related questions before the teachers. He asked them what the art was. Again he questioned what the art in education was. Why it was necessary for the primary and secondary sections. Further he pointed out that there was needs and to make teaching joyful. It would broaden the mind of the learners. It would link between subject topics and real life. It would enable them to engage, persist, collaborate, and develop craft. It could make them envision, create, and reflect. It could help the teachers for evaluation in better way.
                         In the end, he showed some related videos of it and tried to stuff into the teachers mind. Over all his session was result oriented. At 12.30 the teachers had lunch time and got back the hall. That afternoon the teachers prepared the lesson plan in Integrating Art and Craft in curriculum. In that session, Mr. Kishor Patel assisted and guided them.
      As soon as the small break was finished, Miss Kainaz Mam got the chance of sharing the experience. It happened that she along with Miss Sejal mam attended the teachers training organized by CBSE. They introduced the activity of multi-disciplinary. In which the group of teachers planned out the activity as they were given a chit. In the chit there were the topics like Water, health, environment, and many more. Later on they presented it before other teachers. It was quite good and enjoyable learning with fun for us. Every subject teacher introduced something new relate to the topic before others. 
                        At 3.30 all teachers submitted their lesson plans to him and put the planning for the following day.    

Date: 11/11/2019                                                                                                        Day- Monday
 The day started with prayer and the teachers’ assembly. The tea and breakfast followed. On that day, Mr. Parth Hirani presented the power point on Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Curriculum. He smartly threw lots of curiosity before the teachers. He explained what it was by showing a video. That video convinced them about urgency of the artificial intelligence. Further he hinted the usage of it in very filed such as health, education, business, finance, and agriculture. This year even CBSE compulsorily implemented and made it necessary. Later on he presented the principles of it and lesson plan. At 10 O clocks he winded up his session and put good knowledge before the teachers. 
                      On that same day ,the teachers celebrated National Education Day at Sri Sathya Sai Vidyanitaken, Navasari. It has been declared by CBSE, New Delhi in memory of birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad who was India’s first Union minister of Education. It was also suggested by the board to arrange the creative competitions among the teachers and the students. So they all teachers organized a slogan competition and participated in it. It was not only compulsory but also creative for all of them. Many of them drew lots of pictures with the slogan. Some of the following slogans were written by the teachers.
रूखी सूखी खाएँगे……,लेकिन पढाई जरूर कराएँगे!”
घर घर है नारा…….,शिक्षा देना काम है हमारा!”
“We two are educated,
And our two to be educated”
शिक्षा जीवन का आधार है,
इसके बिना जीवन बेकार है!”
                                  At 12.30 the teachers got their lunch and came back at hall. At 1.30 some teachers presented their lesson plan on experiential learning and Art integration. Slowly and gradually they became interested in and made it fruitful. At 3.30 they had planning of the following day. Simultaneously some teachers were informed to be ready on next day for their presentations.

Date: 12/11/2019                                                                                                  Date – Tuesday 
At 8 the teachers had prayer and assembly. Then they one by one came for their presentation.  Whole day it took place and also submitted the report of the induction programme. In that they mentioned what they learnt and developed their skills.
                      At 12.30 they took their lunch and got back at the hall. Then they were assigned a task of cleaning the classroom. By that time everybody rushed at their respective classes. There they checked out the class and kept the things at the proper place.
                         At 3.30 they planned out of the following day and determined that they had to follow what they had learnt during the induction. With that hope they went away with saying ‘Sai Ram’.
